Dental Implants in New Orleans
Reliable & Permanent Tooth Replacement
A tooth implant permanently fills the gap caused by a missing tooth or teeth. These implants are sturdier than bridges or dentures, require no additional maintenance (unlike dentures), and blend flawlessly with your other teeth.
Implants can be used for a variety of purposes:
- Replacement of individual missing teeth
- A strong base for your bridge
- As a support for dentures, which can clip on and off of the implants
Our knowledgeable and professional dental team at James A. Campo, DDS has provided innovative dental services in New Orleans for more than 15 years. We’re proud to offer this advanced and popular solution to our patients.

The Process of Installing a Dental Implant
Due to their permanent nature, a dental implant requires a longer period of treatment time in order to complete the installation. At your initial appointment, your dentist will discuss your goals for your implant, assess your jawline and gums, and identify any problems you may run into when receiving your implant.
If you prove to be a good candidate for an implant, we will schedule your first surgical procedure. This is an outpatient procedure, during which a metal post is inserted into the space where you are missing a tooth. The post screws into your actual jawbone, ensuring a solid and sturdy base for the new prosthetic tooth.
Since this is a surgical procedure, your mouth needs some time to heal. This can take upwards of six months. We want to make sure the post is well-fastened into your mouth before we move on to the next stage. During this time of healing, the bone in your jaw is growing around the metal post, forming a secure and strong bond.
Once your jaw has healed, we bring you in for one final appointment, where the prosthetic tooth is clicked into place on top of the post. Most patients can’t visually distinguish this false tooth from their natural teeth.
